Default How to loose your virtue

I posted this at another forum and thought I would share it here also:

It is said patience is a virtue, I say patience only lasts so long. Mine is wearing thin and I am about to go crazy.
I bought my 2002 C5 online Dec.18,2006. The original shipping date was to be Dec.27, arriving here app Jan 16.

The dealership got the car to the shipper on Jan 2,2007, because as they said" its been crazy around here". I was patient.

The new delivery date was set to be Jan 27. 2006 due to the late delivery and missing of the first shipping window. I was patient.

The shipper, DAS let the car set for 11 days . They call me and tell me due to the storms in the rockie mtn states there is a 10-14 day delay .I was patient.

Finally the online tracking shows my car is moving, it made it about 70 miles. woohoo its on its way! Now I am getting excited because they told me once it starts moving it will only be 3-4 days until i have it.. I am still patient.

Online tracking shows it in the Eureka Mt. area, truck is probably picking up/ dropping off another vehicle. I am getting anxious ,and still being patient.

Online tracking shows it now in Hauyard ID. with delivery date of Jan 23,07. I Can't locate on any maps, but do find reference to hauyard as a BNSF railway id code. Hmm, maybe that stands for Hau"ser" yard, ID. which is a BNSF refueling depot along side Highway 53.

Its now 4am and i am about to wet myself. IF Hauyard is what I think it is, then my car is in Post Falls ID, the drop off terminal for DAS. I hurry up and get ready for work, grab my camera, leave early and head to Post Falls ID.( the opposite direction from work, lol) Get to PF and...................nothing, lights out, no one home. No truck, no car nothing.

I head back toward Spokane and stop at the truck stop at the State line. I figure surely the truck is there, getting some shut eye or chow. Nope, nothing . 2 truck loads of new Dodge pickups headed to Dave Smith, but no DAS or my car.

Bummed out I head on to work. still patient knowing its a slow work day and I can probably go home in a couple hours.

I call the terminal, no DAS yet. I head home check the computer and online tracking shows my car now in Wenatchee WA. @$% I think, well maybe the truck is doing a drop off then turning around to come back this way as 4am was a bit early to drop off at a closed terminal ( contracted out). I am still being virtuous.

Come in from the shop where I am stripping of 2 repaints on my C4 getting it ready for paint and check the pc again.
Now my car is in Cashmere WA. the wrong direction of travel to get to Spokane/Post Falls.

I get on the phone and talk to a real person at DAS, they say the truck is headed to Renton WA, which is a hub terminal and my car will be transferred to a truck for its trip to Post Falls, ID. I remain calm , thank them and hang up.. I think to myself, remain calm, you don't know the shipping business, don't second guess them.. I talk myself into that train of thought and remain virtuous.

I check online tracking at 7pm, it shows my car now in Mulkiteo WA.
DAM, that is a side trip on the route to Renton,WA. I complain to the wife about how i will "never" get this darn car. LOL. She rolls her eyes and tries to ignore me. I return to being virtuous.

I get up this morning at 3:30, cant sleep anymore, gotta know where my car is. Tracking shows Mulkiteo, WA. grrrr. I call at 6am pst and am told it is in "um, its in Washington, I can't pronounce the name of the town" I dam near cry i am laughing so hard at the phone rep trying to say Mulkiteo .

He tells me it will be in Renton in an hour or so then loaded to come back this way. My virtue holds and I say thank you and hang up.

Its now 9:34 am 01-24-07 and I am on hold with DAS tracking, trying to find out why my car is still shown to be in Mulkiteo and still shows a delivery date of yesterday..... Hold music sucks, putting an old guy that is frazzled already almost over the edge! Where is that bottle of Valium? Oh that's right. we don't have any Recorded message says thanks for my continued patience, lol. How did they know I was still patient?

lady finally answers the phone, thank god the bang bang music is stopped. She says my car is in Mulkiteo scheduled to arrive in Renton WA. today. She takes my phone number and promises to call back as soon as she can find out an actual update on its progress, after I inform her that info was from 7pm last night.

My patience is wearing thin, my nerves are going, I have no pills, and I don't drink or smoke. Guess I will go out to the shop and do some more stripping and sanding and at least be bonding with a Corvette.

more to come as this saga continues......

Honestly I've heard nothing but bad about DAS.... I'm sorry for your issues.

Lesson learned... get a plane ticket, fly across country, have an amazing drive back in your new car seeing our beautiful country

FWIW I'd right a detailed complaint letter to the management of DAS.

You wouldn't happen to have the Cliffs Notes version of this saga?

Good Luck. As above, never heard anything good about DAS.

I really enjoyed the start of the story, but the ending really blows. I am not really into sequals. Open ending story..........now I wont be able to sleep until I find out if the car arrives or gets shipped some where else. Good luck !!!!!

By the way is the car covered or protected from weather?

Great story, although it doesn't have a good ending yet - here's hoping that's not going to take much longer. Where did its journey start?

I almost choked trying to eat lunch and read your post at the same time. I don't find the circumstances humorous, but some of your writing is!

We sometimes have these same issues with products shipped to us, but never anything as important as your Corvette.

I hope you hear something positive soon.

I love technology. Your stuff doesn't get to you any sooner, but you can look on the web and see they shipped it to Bomphok Idaho, or some other exotic destination. Just can't figure out WHY they did that!

Best of luck for eventual safe delivery.

Are you sure you don't drink or smoke? Sanding and bonding with a Corvette while naked? Just kidding. Best of luck with your situation. I would be out of mind by this point.

Forgive my ignorance during your time of turmoil but if you live in WA why the hell are they delivering in ID when they have been in WA for 2 days now?? You sure as hell have more patience that I could ever have..Good luck..BTW---I would have taken up something at this point---drinking sounds good---remember it's 5 o'clock somewhere..

Patience and waiting to drive your new vette shouldn't be allowed in the same sentence.

Patience........Patience!!!!!!!!! I would have flipped out on somebody long before now but that's me. When you pay for a service you expect to receive that service, not the run around. I would get into my car and go find that baby. Would want to see it face to face. Don't worry, I'll drink a couple of beers for you and await the final chapter.

Sorry for your frustrations. Somehow your store made my day seem less frustating that I thought it was before I ready your store. Everything is relative. As trying as this situatuin is in the overall scheme of life it is not as bad as a lot of things that can and do happen. I hope you enjoy your car soon. PS I had just finished writing this the first time and the power went off. Attempt two worked.
