Guys for those of you running larger than stock wheels...Do any of you have any problems rubbing front or rear??? Also how wide have you gone w/ rear wheel ,& tire width. I would like to go 19' or 20'x13' 335 series if this is possible w/out rear fender well modification. I'm @ to purchase an '02 Z, and wheels and lowering are a must; of course I don't believe in "All Show No Go", however I've got plenty of direction in the HP dept Thanks to the great info provided by the members on this board. When running larger dia wheels how much have you lowered your Zs? I know I'm shooting a lot at you guys and any help/wisdom would be VERY much appreciated!!!
Thanks...
20x13  You will have to tub the car. That will also be one heavy butt wheel. I have 20x10 on my 01 coupe with no problems. I also have 19x9 1/2 in the front with no problems.
I went with 20x10 because currently there are only 285-30-20 tire available ;)
good luck
Nasty, Thanks for the info...The reason for the 13 inches wide was because I wanted the same "fat" look as on my viper. I'm tired of the hot rod, kit car feel the viper gives, and want something more refined soooooo...The Z06 sounds like the answer. And for the other two jokers.GRRRRRRREEEEAAT way to make a first time poster, read... BRAND spankn' new member, feel your love. But I guess bad apples find there way into every bunch............ :seeya
Mr.Big,
I also run 19 & 20" sizes similar to NastyC5, because the limiting factor is tire width...
If & when they make 300+ mm width's, the rear can always be tubbed. A good friend w/ a stage 2+ LPE TT is having this done right now to house 335/18's--this mod will look factory when done right.
My car has been lowered significantly(relative to overall tire height) w/ no issues--other than steep driveways ;)
You will love the Z--I've recently driven a 500HP Viper, and frankly was not impressed--other the the fantastic turn in.
Welcome :D !!!
GTB thanks for the info that is what I wanted to hear...Cool. And Nasty make sure a true "HotRod" is what you want before you buy the Viper. I had a '99 with a host of mods (can't ever seem to get enough) I loved the car and kept it for @ 14 month but no matter how much $$$ I spent, I couldn't
seem to make it what I wanted...I'm hoping the refined touch the vette seems to offer, will do the trick.
I have 20's on the rear and 18's on the front the car is lowered and have had no problems. The car will have more wheel spin and thus suffer a bit at the drag strip and on those hard street launches due to the smaller sidewall though. I am going to come back down to 18's all around though. I have a massive power upgrade underway and will need more rubber on the ground. I will be getting some 345's (12') on the rear and the car will have a tub done.
No Mercy, Thanks for the info.
Do you know what tubbing consists of??? Are we talking FULL Tilt drag car style tub where the interior is moded as well or just the inner fender???
Thanks in advance!
GTB/ ZR1 is right, they do not make a tire bigger than 285 for a 20" wheel currently, with the exception of a 40 series 295 tire for trucks and SUV's. If they do come larger some day, I would stick to a 315 tire or smaller to avoid the costs and time involved in tubbing the car. Besides the difference between a 315 and 335 tire is really only 20mm, a little over one inch.
