Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase a front licence plate bracket for my C5?
Here is the catch though...I live in NY so I have to drive with a front plate, unfortunately the front looks like crap with the licence plate showing instead of the center cap of the bumper (the one which reads Corvette) so I was thinking of going with one of those side plate looks...
you might have seen them on the mitsubishi lancer evo...
I just want to make clear that I like to eat my rice, not drive it, but I believe the side plate look is much better than taking off the center cap.
Does anyone have any information on these type of brackets?

I hate to disagree with you, but I think what you're proposing would look absolutely terrible. Front plates where they belong look fine on a C5 if you absolutely must, especially with a body colored smoothie plate surround. Anything else is going to look worse than goofy. Sorry.
In my opinion mounting the plate to one side would totally upset the balanced appearance of the front of the car. There are lots of nice ways to mount the plate where the designers intended it to be.

Get the color matched one - it does look good. I have one on mine.

I think the only cars that the side mounted plates look okay on are big and rectangular with tall, wide, chrome plated bumpers that were manufactured in the 1960's.
Just ride w/o the plate, i do and the cops dont seem to bother. I think they will only mess with you if you get pulled over for something else. just leave your front plate under your seat and put it on your dash when they pull u over and say you havn't received the bracket yet.

Yea Im not going to take that chance any more....I got a ticket a few months ago for having my front plate of my beloved Camaro, in the passanger's side of the windshield, and dont ask me how, but ended up gettin my licence suspended for not showin up to court to pay (i guess it was my fault) but Im not taking any more chances with the law (too many tickets for stupid reasons)
Anyway, thanks for all the info, I guess I will look into the trim piece, I would just rather have the entire plate showing, since its custom...
