98 C5 new owner that can't seem to be able to figure out how to set the Memory 1 setting for myself and the Memory 2 setting for the Wife. Do you start the car, adjust seat, radio, auto temp, etc. then hit the Memory 1 button on the drivers door or just turn the key to Accessory?
The way I doed it..start car, leave in park, set seat, radio, mirrors, hvac, etc., where I want it. Then press and hold button #1. The light above the button will glow steady for one second and then flash when the settings are achieved. Button #2 can be programmed using the same procedure. You can also program for a third person by doing the settings and then pressing buttons 1 and 2 at the same time. If you have two key fobs, the first one that you program will save the button 1 settings. The 2nd fob programmed will have the button 2 settings. Do a search on fob programming.
If you don't have one, I would suggest you buy an owner's manual. There is a whole bunch of useful info in there. New ones can be bought at www.HelmInc.com. They are the official printers. Cost about $25 or $30.
Cheers
