Default HUD set up

I have removed my dash pad from my 1999 FRC in anticipation of installing the HUD projector, which I have not received as of this post. My instructions (taken from the forum) indicate that I am to drill two small holes to secure the projector in it's place. However, there are already two small l/4th inch bolts protruding in the approximate place where I am supposed to drill the holes. I have read a lot of information about the install (several resources) and no one has said anything about those bolts being there. My question is, are these the bolts that will secure the frame of the projector? They do not seem to be functional for anything else.

Thanks for your help.

Wait for your projector to arrive. Set it in the cradle and see if the holes line up......

Yes, I understand that. However, the reason I wanted to know was because I am going to cut the hole in the dash and do not want to make the wrong cut thus exposing the bolts inappropriately.

Don't get confused w/ those drilled holes you are talking about. If you cut the dash correctly, and the plastic bezel fits and lines up where it is suppose to on the dash, those holes will never be seen. Good luck...

I am pretty sure the bolts are the ones shown in the manual. They must be metric because a standard thread does not work. I will probably call the dealer tomorrow and see if they have the nuts on hand. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Default Make sure you have the bezel before you cut

Just installed my HUD retrofit I got from PaceThis yesterday, and am guessing you already have the bezel. However, if you don't, you definitely want to wait to get it before cutting. There is only about 5mm room for error on the cutting. It is pretty simple (has to be, I did it ), but the potential to mess up definitely exists. You won't see any of the mounting hardware after the install is done. I used the supplied double stick tape to mount the projecter to the two places nearest the windshield. The other mount is clear, there is even a cutout in the dash brace it mounts to.

If you guys could post some pics of your process that would be great for someone like me who wants to do the HUD in my '98!

Only if you are able too! take some pics during your installation of the steps along the way!

Thanks,matt
