T/C question
I had the torque management system tuned out when I got the Z dyno tuned. What is the drawback of having T/C on when I race? Is there anything else that will hamper my take-offs? I'm very new to the T/C system and am quite ignorant on the matter.
Thanks for the help,
Josh

as long as torque management wasnt tuned out withing traction control, you will be fine.
i noticed a HUGE difference after torque management was removed from my 2000 coupe.
when i race, i push the button to turn t/c off, and give it hell.
but someone that only knows that there's a "table" ... doesn't know enough. Yep; there's TM on a 6 speed... but it only comes into play during the "Abuse" mode.
And you won't ever see the abuse mode on a C5 during regular type driving... even during drag racing.
yep, your tuner changed some values in that table alright ; but you'll never reap any benefit out of it; because you'll never meet the parameters required for the abuse mode to become in play.
The A4's TM is very active... during almost every shift of the A4 transmission. And that's why nullifying TM on the A4 is so advantageous.
Let's go back to the day after I bought my Z. I was giving people at work rides in the vette to show them how bad it was. I go and take a Ford guy out and I try to impress him with a strong take off and hard shifts. As soon as I hit it in first it starts to go strong then bogs down. Mind you T/C is on(I wasn't go to fool around with taking it off-being my first real day with the car). I jump out the gas and back in to see the car respond quite well until I shift into 2nd and it bogs down again for a moment. From what I gathered that would be Torque Management coming in and closing my TB blades to reduce RPMs correct? After I got the car tuned, non of that happens anymore. When T/C is on I hit it hard and it goes strong from idle all the way up until I shift, no problems in any gear.
My original question was in relations to T/C. I had TM tuned out in my Z with a 6spd. It doesn't bog down anymore with Traction Control on. That is why I was wondering if the Traction Control system affected any other components of the car. Does it change any suspension settings or anything like that if it is on?
The real question is: What all does T/C affect? Sorry, I'm making this confusing, but I am new to the computer era of cars. I love the simplicity of my 75 Stingray. No computers to play with just bolt on and go.
