Because you mentioned that your car is modded, you will not get what you put into it, plus it will be a very fun car with that blower on it.
I am a HUGE fan of the new Z, but the price is just to high for me. Plus, I have never been a person to buy the first year run on anything and this is the first year run on the new Z. It is only going to get better.
The Vette is awesome now with 403 RWHP and 3:42s. The blower would get me 500+ rwhp. I've got about $10K in performance mods plus $5K into the chromed CCWs and appearance mods.
At this point I'm at a crossroads. Do I put another $5k-$6k into a 2004?
I would look for a used A&A or ECS blower and slap that baby on and you will have more power than a Z06 and less out of pocket. When you get tired of that and the new Devil Ray or whatever they will call it comes out with 650 hp then you will catch my eye. Nothing wrong with the new Z, but taking a bath on your 04 with no miles on it is not in my book, but if you have money to burn go for the new Z it is a beautiful car

the new c6 z06. if they only made it without that huge piece of glass on the back. i have always liked the hardtop look more than the coupe but i would drive a new z06 if someone gave one to me
I had the same option last year, kept my c5 and went for SC. Glad I did! You might want to call ECS and discuss two options: Centrif SC vs. Kenne Bell twin screw.
I went Centrif w forged bottom & alky. The Kenne Bell has great low end pull and you should discuss with ECS the pros and cons.
Note: If your planning to road race the car(vs drag) discuss heat issues with ECS as well.
Your C5 is still practically new, throw that supercharger on it! Sleeper C5 to surprise some of those other C6 Z06 owners. Besides, anyone who can afford it will just BUY a C6 Z06. Your C5 is BUILT. A much better achievement IMO.

I doubt you can get the blower done "correctly" for $5-$6k
there's no doubt in my mind you will continue modding your vette, no matter if its the c5 or c6...with that in mind, why continue modding the '04 when you can take that money and invest it into a new z06...
speaking only about hp, the new z already comes with more than your modded c5, the money that you can use for the blower on the c5, you can take and make at least 100 hp extra on the new z...
Agree that $6,000 isn't going to get you hooked up with a SC. Plan to spend $8,500 min for SC and prof install, plus another $500+ for alky kit. If you want big hp, 600+ you looking at forging the engine and likely a new fuel pump (another $7,000).
On the other hand a new Z06 is going to set you back another $45,000+++ when your done and include taxes.
