Whats the problem with Dex Cool? I see that GM is getting sued over putting Dex Cool in their cars. Has anyone had any bad experiences with Dex Cool?

Not had any problems using Dex Cool in my cars. Changed out the coolant in my C5 about 2 years ago and everything looked good.

The problem I have noticed is when the level is low and air is introduced into the cooling system it coagulates and forms sludge/chunks. Then the whole system must be drained and flushed. Then refilled. I did not know they were being sued though.

Do a search on this forum and you will see that there are a lot of urban legends about pink vs. green. I would not worry about Dexcool.

Have it in 99 Grand Am, 01 Saturn, 04 Bonneville & 02 Z06. No problems so far.

Air in the system is death to DexCool.

I have been told by my mechanic about this a long time ago .
If you service the fluid frequently you will have no problems .
I have 2 C5s , one is running with the orange stuff and one with the green stuff , can't tell the difference . both run good

People will sue about anything they hope will get them some money. It is Urban Legend. GM has been installing Dexcool in cars since 1996 and the vast majority of people have not had any problems. My mothers car is a 96 and she is just finishing her second 5 year stint on Dexcool without any problems. My wifes 99 Saturn is well into its second 5 year stint, my 03 Tahoe is on its 5th year and my 03Z is on its 5th year. My 97 C5 went 5 years. All with no problems with the Dexcool.

Hum, that's way before my time, in fact that must have been when you lived in an alternate universe and they put anti-freeze in their air conditioning system and freon in the radiator.

Which do you prefer? The 12 or the 22?
