Default just stalled..

hey guys been ahving a problem with the car lately with it cruising, it was jumping around between 200-400 rpm while on cruise or 3/4 throttle. But on WOT it was fine.

I was on my way into class and i stall while im waiting to turn into parking lot! It wouldnt start for about 5 - 10 mins after numerous trys and seeing white smoke coming out the tail pipes I get out and check engine. Everything appears to be fine, i check below because i smell something burning, oil is my first impression i cehck the oil and then coolant, both are fine.

I did notice that when i was coming over to the college that my car wouldnt give me an oil temperature. It was saying 'low' oil temperature. Any idea what this could be guys thanks!

maybe the oil sending unit is bad or leaking ? C5s are bad with this problem but not sure that this would make the car stall though .

While not nearly familiar with this engine and diagnostics compared to the C4, looking at the charts there are a series of tests that can be done to isolate the ECT sensor using the scan tool and a resistor. But for the most part and general analysis would be a ECT sensor failing to get up to speed quick enough thus keeping the PCM in open loop possibly causing the stall, cut out. The ECT is suppose to rise steadily from start on up to 90°F where it should become stable.

It very well could be an ECT sensor. But I'm not an expert or anything.
