was kinda thinking about going to a local corvette club meeting to check it out.Was wondering how many people here belong to any local clubs and what do you enjoy about it the most. I think learning more about the cars and getting help on any problems would be the thing im most interested in joining for. Not really looking to get in a line of corvettes going up interstate but who knows could be fun! anyway what do you clubs do and talk about at meetings...oh yea i guess corvettes!

I belong to a local club - they have dinner cruises, go to car shows, cruise nights, trips to Bowling Green, etc. If you like social get togethers, they can be a good time. Some clubs also get heavily involved in charity work - that can be very rewarding.

We also belong to a local club and I have found it depends on the club. One that we used to belong to was more into participating in car shows. I guess its fine if all you want to do is polish and sit there all day. However, the one we now belong to is more into cruising and seeing the sights. Nothing like going for a ride with about 20+ other Corvettes. You will turn a few heads. Lots of clubs will have weekly socials during the summer at one of the local ice cream shops, so the fun and being with people who share your passion are always great.

Google your area you'll find websites of the clubs. Some are mostly social, some get more into drag racing and autocross BUT all are fun. What I have found in my years of being in clubs is that there is no difference if you own a '64, '84 or '04 you gain instant friends.

TO answer your question:
My club has just over 100 members Id guess and has been around since the early 80s.
We meet once a month at a local restaurant that has been catering to us since before Katrina blew through. Ususally have 50-75 at each meeting. We have a short announcement session from the officers and recap of recent events given by different members of the club.
Then we eat TONS of food and shoot the **** with eachother.
After that we have another short session of new/old business. Usually talking about upcoming Corvette Shows, cruise ins, trips, NCRS stuff, tours, etc.
Then (weather permitting) we disperse.. well - some do.
Most of us hang out in the parking lot looking at eachother's Vettes. Comparing mods. Discussing repairs, paint shops, parts sources, etc.
It seems that there are at least 3 or 4 events each month you can attend.. so if you can't make one, there will be another the next week, typically.
Once a month the ladies of our club have a get together - They call themselves The Vetter Halves.
While they are off doing what they do, the guys get together at Robert's garage for a Tech Party. Essentially we do a few mods, oil change, etc to a few of the member's Vettes, eat a bunch of pizza, drink a few beers, watch NASCAR or the ballgame, and generally just be a bunch of Corvette Owning Guys -
Once a year we caravan up to Bowling Green for some well deserved special treatment by the Museum and the Plant. At least twice a year we head up to Monticello, MS to cruise the Tail of the Lizard - our curvy stretched out version of the famous Tail of the Dragon. All of the area Clubs have a major Corvette show so the spring, summer and fall months are scattered with those.
I can go on and on -
but yes, the club has been a great resource of tech info, assitance with mods and repairs, and also a social group of friends who actually enjoy driving their Corvettes.
I've tried a few, but really don't care to sit at a car show all day or get in line with 20+ cars and parade around the interstate. However, lots of guys like that so give it a try.
Thanks for the responses! Still undecided but might give it a whirl. Would be interested to talk and see who in my area does good work on vettes. Not looking to do something every freaking weekend based on a car,or ride in a interstate caravan of vettes. Seems like some like it and some dont, guess it depends on if you have an out going personality or not. Anyway thanks again!
