header install question...

header install question...

Going to be going with TPIS headers. There is 30k miles on the car. Should I get new header gaskets or use the ones that are there??

You probably don't ABSOLUTELY need new gaskets, BUT, gaskets are cheap - headers aren't the worst thing to install, but you will have a few skinned knuckles when you are done.

My advice: get NEW gaskets and skin your knuckles once, rather than twice. Enjoy!

dealership may very well have them on hand - do a search on the forum in the C5 tech section for the best header gasket - there was just a thread about this yesterday.

If your vette has the stock metal gaskets and they are not damaged for any reason, then they should be fine. If you do replace them get the metal ones.
