I don't know if this helps you, but I have 20s on the rear of mine and traction control seems to work fine. I can't remember what size tires I'm running though.

If I understand correctly you are asking if you can run 20's on all for corners?

Not advised but it can be done or so the saying goes "just because it CAN be done doesn't mean it SHOULD be done". There is at least one other member that I know of that runs 20's on all four corners (can't think of his name). The trick is keeping the tire/wheel overall diameter as close to the stock ratio as possible. You have to maintain a "staggered" ratio (front to rear) in relation to the stock measurements or you're asking for an unhappy traction control/active handling computer.

19's front and 20's rear are your best bet.

I have heard.."correct me if i am wrong" that you can install a hypertech power programmer and reset your tire height with the programer, which will adjust you Traction control problem!

If you plan on keeping the overall diameter the same in the front then I would say not to do it. I have 19s in the front and I can't image the sidewall being any smaller than it already is.

Again...it can be done, looks a little silly imho but nevertheless you can do it. Regarding the programmer...can't help you there, I've never used one.

You might want to post in the tires/wheels section for "expert" info.

I'm running 19/20's with 275/30/19 - 305/25/20 (most popular sizes for 19/20) and I can't imagine having to go with a shorter sidewall on my front tires than I already have. I already get squeamish when I take corners a high speeds fearing I might bend the rubber enough to scrape the wheel lip. Not to mention potholes

If you don't already know about it...try this website to get a good idea of measurements and tolerances.
Good luck

Programming the new tire size only adjusts the speedometer reading and PCM operation, it does not affect traction control operation.

Traction control works by comparing front and rear wheel speeds, and the logic module that determines when to activate it, takes into account the fact the rear tires are 1" taller than the front. Upsetting this front/rear tire height ratio will mess with that wheel speed comparison, and as far as I know, there is no aftermarket programming tools for the TCS module.

However, you can run 20's all around by staggering tire heights. Your front tire size choices are rather limited, but something like a 245/30/20 or 255/30/20 front, and 285/30/20 rear should work ok. If you want to go wider in the rear, a 325/25/20 would also probably work ok.

If you have a specific set of wheels in mind, post their widths.

I had 19/20 wheels on mine and no problems. Not sure what you would have with four 20's on the car.

It's all about front-to-rear ratio vs. the OEM ratio - I scored this spreadsheet [thanks to the original developer!]:

http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/z/jz2gte/Z...Calculator.xls

Very simple, just plug in the wheel/tire specs - the first column will show the % variation (over/under) the OEM ratio! Very very helpful!

Cheers!

i had 20's all around with 35 series tires on all of them.

The front scraped everytime i turned into a driveway or parking lot
and my traction control was screwed up. I would get the engine power reduction on the freeway etc.

I ended up spending about $1000 at chevy replacing a bunch of sensore under the manifold and still had the problem. I put my stock wagon wheels back on and problem solved. Has never happened again.

I will never put 20's on all 4 corners again. Maybe 19/20's but they will hae to be super light.

I had 19/20 ronals on my vette as well for a few months and they were rediculously heavy. Sold them and once again the wagons came back on.

If I am not mistaken, traction will actually suffer by going with a larger rim/tire combo?

My friend put 20's on his 97 and had problems. If you change the rollout of the car the traction control gets confused and bogs the car down when you try to go over 20 mph.

But you can always just turn it off, but then you'll have that annoying little light and have to do it everytime you start the car, which is also annoying

And breaking. It's downright foolish.

Putting too big rims on your car will also mess up your speedometer (it will not read the correct speed.)
