As some of you guys know from recent post, Im going to be buying a set of new wheel shortly. I was washing the car the other day and noticed the horrible rust on my rotors, I just can't see putting a new set of wheels on with these horrible rusting rotors. I was browsing thur ecklers and ran into these and wanted to see if they were my best option for a good look. If anybody has any better or cheaper ideas please chime in.
Oh yeah I've got a much cheaper and better option
Just paint the hubs, you dont want to even tape them off
Just use a can of caliper or high heat engine spray paint in your color choice....take the wheels off, spray and turn them by hand to get all around and spray them at the furthest point from the calipers for no overspray...then when you brake the first time the pads will make a perfect cutoff cleaning the excess paint
i have these in chrome on my car. love em. get lots of compliments on them. with chrome rims u really need something back there. even painting them as described above will help but u cant paint to look like chrome, silver yes, not chrome so if shiny and smooth is what u want, get these.
Just dont use VHT name brand paint. I sprayed two coats of their 1500 degree paint on my rotors, followed the instructions on the can to the letter however, my rotors started rusting within two weeks; more in the slots than on the hats but the hats are not fairing much better.

I used the 2 part epoxy brake caliper paint. It brushes on, is self leveling and dries to a high gloss.

I'd give that a try before spending $200 on the hat covers.
I had used the VHT paint on another car. Goes on thin & doesn't cover well. So this thime : wire brushed them, washed with alcohol, painted with Rustolum gloss black. Cost: one bag of acid brushes $4., one small can of Rustolum $3.70 at Home do. Looks good, no bubbles, or problems.
