I was doing some test fitting the other night for TPIS.What a great place to work with. They are letting me try this sheet metal intake on my 427 they built for me, with the option of purchasing it if it works out well on my engine. I'm going to dyno it and see how it does compared to there modified ls6 intake I have. The sheet metal intake will lose some torque due to runner length but will hold power at higher rpm's than the composite intake. It fits under the stock hood. Here are a few pics..
the duct tape was due to my laziness...

Very nice. I like how it's "air gapped" like edlebrock likes to do. Should help keep it from heat soaking a bunch. That things NOT going to be cheap though......
I'm heading out to see Andy at dynotune in South Dakota to try the intake. I'm really excited to do a side by side comparison. All motor and a 150 shot on it, all while running on E-85. I wish you could see it in person, it looks really cool It has billet coil brackets and fuel rails that bolt on to it, really nice piece. I can't wait to drive it again, it is
-16F here right now before the windchill so it's going to be awhile.
Y2Kvert4me- I've run there modified ls6 for two years now, I like it alot. When they engine dynoed it they tried this intake against the FAST with the 90mm tb. The fast had a higher peak number but the overall average of the power band the modified ls6 was stronger.
As far as them letting there kids weld this piece.... in all honesty this was there prototype that they built to try on there engine dyno. A friend of mine just got his 427 back from them with a new L92 setup, he had them make an intake like this for his f-body. That intake looks like showroom quality

Hey, I'm sure you're just giving this guy crap but can you weld better??? Please, I'm not trying to offend but have you ever used a TIG welder?? Look at how you'd have to run the filler rod UNDER the tunnel ram port from behind to even get the rod to the area needed to weld each port. It's tough how you have to get the rod in funky places... It's always easy to be critical of other's work...
In reality, I'm SURE if they put these into production they will likely machine at least some of the welds back off and smooth up the corners... Or they would try to make it look more pretty if they knew the world was going to look it over...
Everybody always criticizes someone elses welds and they don't know Argon from Acetylene, Tig from Mig, or stick from JB!!! If you do, great, if not... be nice. Please.
