Default Tips or suggestions needed!!

I am going to be removing the coolant tank and the windshield fluid tanks to paint them. How do I go about draining these so I can remove them? I need some suggestions or tips for removing these without making a real mess. If you have any pics of this process, please share them.

Clamp the hose with a vice grips, then pull off the end of the hose away from the container, and install a bolt/screw that fits tight inside the end of the hose, remove the vice grips and you should be able to remove without a big mess.

This sounds like a good idea. I just removed the bolts and quickly pulled the hoses off and plugged them with my finger. Only a few ounces of coolent came out. It worked but not the most elegant method.

I thought about using the vise grips but wondering if the tanks should be drained first.... If so, what's the idea way of getting the fluids from the tanks?
