Just curious what most of you are seeing for a total cost (labor) to have Headers installed on your Z's? Of course Tune or anything else would be extra...
I'm going to get it done here in Sierra Vista AZ for $40/hr.
Not sure how long it will take the guy but he is very reliable. Just two weeks ago I drove my '98 Z28 to this guys' shop because I had two header bolts broken off into the head. He was able to get them out, replace all 6 bolts on the driver side, new gasket, and he did it all for $120. Very efficient and he knew his stuff.
So that's why I'm picking this same guy to do my header install for my Z06 when the parts come in. I expect it to cost about $300 or so.
I believe I was quoted $400 or $500 for just the header install but I got a much better deal on it all because I had alot of things done at once (clutch, headers, cam) so it didn't cost me but like $200 or so.
Here in Virginia $60 to $80 per hour is pretty much the standard. I also went with one of the best shops in the area since I wanted it done right the first time.
I 650.00 for headers, vararam, installed and a dynotune. It is the slow season in most of the country so barter with the a little bit. My shop initially quoted 850, but went to 650, by merely asking if they could do better. They also are video taping the dyno for no extra charge.
Why don't you do it yourself? There is really nothing you can do wrong and you just need basic hand tools. Sure, it will kill your back and by no means is it fun, but it's not like you're changing the clutch or something.
That said, although I hate other people messing with my car (however qualified they may be), I suppose that if I had plenty of $$ to throw around, I would pay somebody to do it for me.

WOW! That sounds like a really good price. I was happy a couple days ago when I got quoted $750 for a "before" dyno, install on headers and then a EFI Live tune.
