I'm going to be needing tires in the next couple of months and was wondering about DRs. Is it possible to buy DRs as daily driving tires? I thought I heard this before, maybe I was wrong. If DRs aren't the best idea, then I'll go with the Toyo Proxes.

Sure it is possible to drive on DR's daily, but I wouldn't do it. First, they don't last long, compared to a similar regular street tire, and since you can't rotate the tires, the wear is amplified. In wet weather conditions, they are susceptible to hydroplaning. And,finally, the rubber is SO soft that you will pick up every small stone on the road and it will fling all around your wheel wells and lower chassis, causing alot of noise and possible chips in the paint(around the wheel well) That being said, I have mounted 2 sets of DR's on a friend's C4 and he loves it

What would you expect the life expectancy to be? What is the stickiest tire as far as normal tires are concerned? (radials I believe.)
Thanks,
Josh
The life expectancy is determined by your right foot! My friend replaced his 1st set of BFG's at about the 3,500 mile mark give or take, so it's not much for the price of tires/mounting/balancing IMO. As for hi performance tires, alot of it is subjective, but look for the "treadwear rating" on these tires. The lower the treadwear rating is, the stickier(and less mileage) the tire usually is. Of course, use this info as a base and try to ask others who have used these tires personally how well they perform! Good luck
I got about 8k miles out of my BFG DR's. That is will about 8 trips to the track too. The biggest issue is rain. I got caught in a very small rain shower. It was like driving on ice, literally.
Also, for street driving, if you have a ton of power, they will not make a huge difference. When I go to the track and do a burn out to heat them up, they stick very well. Driving on the street, they break loose at 80+mph when they are cold.
A buddy of mine runs Nitto 555R's on the street and gets pretty ok results. I run nitto NT-01 road race tires on the street because i know the 555'r's dont hook well sideways. I also use HOosier DR's at the strip, and you could use them on the roar, but i would not recommend it for daily driving
Any recommendations on tires that can hold the turns pretty good. I am mostly a straight line guy, but the more turns I take in the Z the more I like it. From the little bit of research I did, it appeared that the Toyo Proxes outperformed most of the other tires and almost 1/2 the price. Any other suggestions.

Nitto NT-01, best tire for the aplication, JBSblown C5 runs them as well and swears by them I will undoubtedly get another 4 next time i need tires
