Ok so after the death of my last vette I finally got another one in the beginning of January. Always been a Florida car and it is 99, but only has 22,500 miles on it and has always been garaged.
Well I had to leave Florida 2 days after getting the car and come up to Tennessee to continue college.
To get to the point, it gets really cold up here and my car is having trouble from time to time getting into reverse (it’s an MN6). After the car warms up for a while it will go in. Sometimes though just letting it warm up isn’t enough and I have to drive around for a couple minutes till it will go into reverse. The car has such low mileage it is hard for me to think that there could be a major problem with the transmission…I’ve been told it could be the trany fluid which I hope is all it needs. Any thoughts????
Hmmm...I suggest the shifter alignment procedure and if that doesn't help, then the fluid change. With those few miles on it, I wouldn't think anything is worn out in the tranny unless something was damaged in it from a previous drive and thats rather a far removed possibility.
i had a similar problem with mine, it was a broken ring that holds the shifter linkage bar in place, mine had a problem popping out of 2nd and wouldent always go in, i have been told that it can break that way or break and cause the same problems with reverse. its like a 2.50 dollar part that GM only sells with the $150 shifter linkage rod. plus the cost to completely remove the drivetrain and reinstall. Good luck, hope the fluid fixes it
