Default Headlight Problems--- Need your Help

I ran into a situation. I turned my car on a few days ago and the headlights wouldn't work properly with the Headlight switch on the left of the colunm. If I turn the switch to theturn "on" the lights stay down. However I can turn them on using the twightlight setting on the dash with the the option button to the right. Having the switch on "on' mood and turning the lights off with the twightlight setting, the lights will stay up but the actual lights will turn off. Do you know if a fuse has gone out or is one of my settings changed to a wrong setting? Or do you know of it being another problem with the car.

Well I'm glad someone knows what I'm talking about!
I was beginning to think I was making things up!
Question for you : If you twist the light switch to turn on the lights and leave it on that mode then turn on and off the lights with the twightlight button. Does the housing of the light stay up but the light goes out?

This is exactly what is happening to me. Everything else works...blinkers/ cruise. I turn the switch **** on when I am in the garage then go out and wash the car and the headlights are off but the door stays up. then when I am done, I turn the switch to off and they go down. I've been researching this issue for awhile now on this forum and the only thing that I come up with is that the "headlight Switch" (Lever) is bad. I would have to replace the whole assembly which I have seen them for about $100.00 at part stores. What I am going to do is take the whole assembly off and check to see if I have a broken wire. worst thing that can happen is I screw up the switch and have to buy one.
Good luck

I'll let you know if I find out anything this weekend.
