I received a survey from General Motors that my 04 Vette with my vin # had work done on it at Ed Morse Sawgrass Auto Mall on Oct. 25th, 2006. I have not had my Vette serviced at any dealership since the day that I purchased it on (01-19-2004) at Les Stanford. I have talked to my Dealer and several GM representatives at different times. Ed Morse does acknowledge that they used my vin# on another vehicle, but as of Feb. 08 2007 no one at my Dealership or GM Representative will or can correct this error. The Gm Rep stated that to clear this problem I have to go to the State of Ohio. Any advice would be helpful.

Oh Boy! I saw this happening in the '70s (Ford) I think what you might have here is a fraudulent warranty claim submission, not a mistake. I would think GM would be working with you on this one as it's in THEIR interest just as much as yours. Just a possibility.

Guess I don't understand why you would have to get the State of Ohio involved in any of this. This is a mistake made by an automobile dealer in their computer system. Why can't they just correct the error and be done with it?
I would get a friendly letter from your lawyer asking GM for monetary damages as a result of their erroneous reporting of mechanical repairs to your vehicle.
I did this once and got instant results, cost me $25.

Maybe they are trying to make you buy their extended warranty.
If nothing else, I would at least get a letter signed by the Ed Morse dealership specifically stating that there was an error made on the computer and that they in fact had never performed work on your car with vin #________. This way you can keep that letter with your Vette paperwork in case the issue comes up when you go to sell the vehicle. Right now while the issue is still fresh on their minds would be a good time to request said letter. If they balk about issuing such a letter then I would let them know that they will be hearing from your lawyer.
Good luck in resolving this issue!

That's what I think. I've seen this sort of thing 1st hand in the past. Here's a question. Whos car, what vin #, and what was that cars disposition. In factory warranty, on your GMPP, service paid with check, cash? I'd love to hear the dealerships answer to this deal. You can bet that the survey company didn't get your address by researching your Vin#. They got it from the erroneous repair order written on your car without it even being there.
Other than the dealer possibly committing a crime against GM I am not sure what your concern is. So it has a repair listed against it? That will not in any way devalue your car. If you pester GM over this all you do is become that A$$hole that doesn't make any sense. Then when you really do need their help it will be long in coming. Before you proceed with this you should take care of more important items like making sure your shoe laces are washed.
