Default Any tips?

I am looking at C5 Z06s (2003 or 2004) as a wedding gift for my fiancee'. I would love to hear from anyone regarding things to watch for, common problems, concerns, tips, etc. I have owned five other 'Vettes (1970, 1974, 1977, 1987, and my current 1960), but have owned neither a C5 or Z06. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Redvette1960

Even though they aren't gauranteed make sure to get a GM service history record, CarFax, and any other reports you can think of pulled on the VIN.

Check the codes when you look at the car, write down what they are and if they are history or current - investigate from there.

Never hurts to take the car to a good body shop and/or good mechanic (i.e. not the dealer) and have them take a quick look around to see if they notice anything obvious that shows the car may have been wrecked, tracked, etc.

those are just a couple things that come to mind...

Lucky lady!!! I have a 03 MY Z06 and love it. It puts a smile on my face just seeing it in the garage and the smile goes ear to ear when I fire it up. It's a great car. Go for it.

You probably know the usual abour running your finger down the edges of the body panels. Rough edges indicate that car was repainted.

Check undercarriage for dents, bends, welds; same under hood. Bolts missing or of a different color. Original factory labels or stickers missing from there.

C5s are really great, including z06s. Do a search on here for (rain) water leak on driver side, steering col lock, and leaking oil pressure sending unit. I have asked a couple of vette mechanics who also owned several vettes, and they tell me not to worry.

These vehicles seem bullet proof.

At least some z06s (and reg vettes) (c5s) do not have a jack or spare. Some have runflat tires.

I guess she could always show a little leg to get a flat repaired.
Heck, we are in our sixties, and my wife does well at that.
