You do need a steady hand but it was quite easy to do. It took about 2 hours from start to finish. Most of that is taking the gauges out and put them back. About 1/2 hour tp do the painting.
I used a UNI paint marker, metellic permant ink. It's looks just like paint as it goes on and drys very quick.
I got the same sort of effect that Josh got when he did his the dash lights glow a sort of bluey purple around the gauges. Looks great for a $5 mod. The paint pen is made by Mitsubishi. I only noticed this after I finished the job. Does this make it a ricers mod!
This pic is a bit shakey but you can see the bluey glow around the fuel gauge.
Thanks to these guys for giving me the confidence to pull my cluster apart and do the mod.
Hopefully this will give others the confidence to do their gauges and save themselves $75!
Thanks guys, it looks better than the pics at night but it's hard to do it justice with the camera pointing through the steering wheel and without the flash. But it shows some of the effect.
I figured if I made a hash of it I would buy the bezels and stick them over the top, but I am delighted with the results and the goods comments.

Looks great. I did the same last year and changed the DIC lights to blue when I took the cluster out. It was a fun winter project but needed a couple of beers to steady my hand.
