Been a bit busy over last couple of weeks, spent a lot of time in Thailand (pretty much a Vette free zone) and now here in Okinawa. Was walking around town today & happened across a beautiful black C3! Really not sure of the year but it was in great shape and had a little Okinawain flare to it (you know, large ricer mufflers), it was still a cool sight Nice to see some American iron ...Or fiberglass in this case... here among the Skyline GTR`s, Supras, etc.
Back in the US soon but really missing my Vette!!!
I spent 6months in Okinawa at a Kadena Air Base. Lived out in town right across from the Police Station. On the way to work, if there were 2 cop cars at the police station, that meant no cops patrolling the streets and the drag races were on. I remember once ripping down a sidewalk and hitting 2 trash cans but I beat my buddy to the gate. Had a lot of fun at the bars there but I'll stop the stories there cause this is a public forum. ;-} Yeah, I don't remember seeing any Vettes at all when I was there, of course maybe they didn't make them back then. haha
Enjoy your time, your Vette will wait.

After 20 years in the Army, retiring in 1989, I've lived in the same house for 18 years and have 2 vettes in the garage. Paid my dues. Good luck to you and enjoy yourself when you return.
Very sweet... When I got off the plane in Oki I saw a 67 Mustang fastback.... Last nice American car I saw the whole time I was there. Was cool seeing the Evo's, NSX's, Supra's, Skyline's, and Silvia's though. I unfortunately had a beat to hell CRX with about 4,000,000,000 miles on it. 125 bucks to cover the JCI and the car was free at least.
They do have some really hot cars here but I`ve seen a bunch more on mainland Japan... Especially those GTR`s!
As far as Vettes go, I`ve only noticed a handful during my travels abroad & most in Europe. Many of the Thai auto mags do have ads for Vettes (mostly C5s) but the cost of those cars is unreal. My Thai friends always laugh at the cost of my Z... I could buy a small estate for the same price apparently Forget it, as much as I love my many visits to the Kingdom I love my Z even more
I was stationed at Camp Hansen from 86-87'. My OIC was replaced by a Major and when he finally drove his car to work, after a thorough inspection/repair for the JCI, he shows up in a midnight blue 64' Coupe. Sweet, made me feel good everyday to see it in front of the 3rd CEB Headquarters bldg.
Was at Camp Schwab from March 04 to March 05. Glad I went but was happier to come back and retire. Went to Thailand while I was there. Enjoy Oki and traveling. You will not regret it.
