Default Fluid Leak

When I leave my 2000 sit for a while I get a small leak out of the back of the car, especially when it is cold outside. If I drive it fairly consistantly the leak stops (It looks like transmission fluid). My question is two fold. Do you think it is worth getting it fixed? I have an extended warranty. How do you check the transmission fluid level since the transmission is in the back of the car (A4)? Thanks.

It's the rear end, that's leaking most likely the left side notorious on the Vettes, I've had mine fixed twice before I upgraded the rear to 3.42. Bring it to a Chevy store and have it fixed don't wait to the point the fluid get to low.

Just had mine done courtesy GMPP. There is a revised seal and cover that is supposed to be a permanent fix.
You really, really don't want to pay off-warrant 6-8 hours of shop time. The warranty covers the leaking seal, not damage from low fluid level. Good luck.

You really need to isolate exactly where the fluid is coming from. My car has had a leaking differential seal three times and has also had the gasket between the tranny and differential leak. They are very close in proximity if you just look at the leak on the floor. In any case, I'd get it repaired under warranty. To fix the leaking tranny seal was $650 and covered under my extended warranty. All the differential seal leaks were covered under the 3/36 warranty.
