Okay, no disrespect here, but what is your plan of attack when it comes time to polish the car? Waxing I don't think is that big of a deal, but swirls are pretty much inevitable (unless you don't drive it and it stays in an air bubble) and require a little more bite in the polish. Being an avid detailer, that car would scare me if anything more than wax had to be done to it.

It looks very original and different, they did a good job on it.

Why would polishing be a big deal?

why would this be any different than polishing the car the way it was before the flames since i'm sure they painted them and clearcoated just as it was before the flame job???

That looks neat. Never seen anything like that before. What did they use to make the flames pop up? Body filler? Fiberglass?

Polishing uses abrasives that actually remove paint (generally clear coat on 2 stage paint and the actual paint from a one stage).

This is assuming that you would use a machine to do the work. If you do it all by hand, no big deal.

However, if you use a machine, those raised edges would eventually wear down stripping the clear envoking clear coat damage. That was what my concern was.

Have you ever used a rotory to polish a car? That is an extreme case that is only used if the car is neglected. But things happen. A bird could drop a nice surprise on your hood. It might go un noticed for a few days, then you have acid etching in your paint, which you would not get out by hand.

Using a polish is like using 5000 grit sand paper. If you use a semi-aggressive polish too much, especially on the hood, your going to wear the clear away. Those raised edges will get hit harder than anything else.

Am I the only one that see it this way?

100%, IF this were a daily driver, but I have a feeling it's not, so polishing most likely won't be an issue.

Very nice. Very original. Two
