Default tire/wheel question

need some help with tire/wheel question. I have a 99 C5 that has
245 40Z R18 on front
285 35Z r19 on rear
these were the tires that were on the vette when I bought it! But I have since found out that it actually came with 245 40 17 on front and 275 40 18 on rear!!
My question is I want to buy some different wheels actually looking at C6 wheels that will fit the C5 with proper offset so (rear)wheels do not rub! But i would prefer to keep the 18's and 19's that i am running now ! One last question. Is there a great deal of difference (visual)between the origianl size tires and the ones I am running now. maybe someone could show a few pics with the difference.
Thanks

If that is a picture of your vette in your avatar. Those are C6 wheels. There is a noticeable difference in the 17/18 to 18/19 set-up .It is also dependent on your tire choice sidewall, width ect.. Do you intend on keeping your same tire's and just change the wheels, or are looking at a complete change . Staying with the 18/19 comb gives you a great deal of flexablity in tire choice.

They sure look like C6 wheels and the sizes you mention are C6 OEM tires sizes.....

What I found out by actually trying the OEM C6 wheels on my C5 is that the rears had too much positive offset and went way too far inside the car and the tire hit my rear brake ducts. I believe without those rear Z06 brake ducts I probably would have gotten them on the car, BUT still they would not have looked right becasue of being to far inwards on the car....

prefer to have the same style wheel as I have now but only in chrome, but i am getting so many descrepancies in wheel sizes that will fit. from offset size being different between C5 and C6 wheel to having to add spacers on back!! why I am very hesitant to buy over internet. Dont want to pay $$$ for wheel that doesnt fit

Talk to Bob at the House of Wheels and tell him exactly what you want. They DO make C6 style wheels in Chrome and made to C5 offsets....

OK my friend my best suggestion to you would be to contact either Tom or Katrina at Tomz Wheels or Bob at Bobs House of Wheels. Both are very reputable and both are forum vendors. I used Tomz Wheels and was very pleased with there service. It can be some what confusing here in the forum sometime's There are so many combinations of wheels /offsets/tire selection.....runflat/non-run flat. Take your time do lots of reading ,ask alot questions. Most of us are quite happy to share. Check your PM's I sent you a little package.
