Default boy was i dumb

the car is great. i was having a ball and not paying close attention to the car and last week it was nice enough in Houston i took the targa top off. when i put it back on i locked it down and and the next morning headed to work.

this past week i have not been able to adjust the seat to get it low enough to sit comfortably without rubbing my head on the plastic headliner behind the glass top. i looked all under the seat and adjusted and readjusted. it was driving me nuts. i am a tall guy and i bought the car ""knowing" i fit in it and now i don't

so i am heading home this evening and slouching in the seat to keep from bumping my head and i look up at the plastic top to see if i can remove or reshape it and the drivers side "bayonet" that goes in the back of the targa missed the plastic and forced it down. the spear was riding up over the headliner and forcign it down about 2 inches. i put it back and i fit in the car again :o

thought you would enjoy the story.

Ouch, lucky you didn't loose the top while you were driving down the road. Thanks for sharing.

i don't think the roof would fly off. it was locked down like normal. it's just that stick of metal must first go thru a hole in the plastic head liner before it goes in the hole in the steel top (roll bar?) it missed the head liner and forced it down but made the steel so it was secure. i didn't even scratch the plastic.

Glad you got it solved. Guess a second check on the latches is a good thing.

I bought a convertible for that reason. A 7 footer on this forum makes a z06 work with a custom built seat. I link you up if interested.
