every time i put a full tank of gas in my c5 the fuel pump makes a high pitch noise it only does it when i first start it up in the morning, anyone ever have this problem, and if you did was it a easy replacement or a pain in the *** like most gm vehichles
This is a puzzle. The early years C5s had a noisey fuel pump, but I think that was fixed in 1999 or 2000. My 1998 has a noisy fuel pump, it is worse when it is cold (early morning startup) and goes away when it warms up (or is warm outside).
BUT, yours is a 2003 C5, should not be noisy. Early year's pumps were just noisy, the noise did not mean that they were bad, but I would worry about yours ? It might be going bad. You could check fuel pressure, especially when it is making noise.
BTW, you have two fuel pumps and tanks. Usually the one behind the driver is bad/noisy. Replacing these can be a chore, you must drop exhaust pipes and go in through bottom.
I have a 97 drivers side that whines all the time. I purchased a new back-up pump and sender unit and will drive it until it fails. I have been told the same thing that the pumps are noisy. Once I get going my Borla Quads drown the noise out.
