Default Does oil..........low, mean exactly that?

On the DIC, I couldn't call up the oil temp. because it just said "low" were the temp. number should be. Is this what it means? My oil is low. It just got changed a couple of months ago.

I had the same reading the other morning when it was unusually cold out for my morning commute. "Low" as indicated in the oil temp. readout is indicative of oil temperature not oil quantity. Hope this helps.

Thanx. It was cold (in the 20's) when I ran the car. But after 25 minutes, it still said low.

Typically when you start the car again after a few hours there will be a numerical temp. readout. Without fail on a super cold day my DIC will remain "Low" but sure enough on my commute home from work I will have an actal number. I think the lowest readout has been in the mid-teens...could be lower but anything colder than that and I have the dreaded "Low". I inquired about the same issue especially since I have only 35% oil life remaining but I have been reassured by forum members that this is a normal occurrence under very cold operating temperatures.
