Default shifter help

I am considering installing a short shifter on my 99 six speed. Which brand would you reccomend and is this a good idea? all help would be appreciated.

I installed a Hurst and Love it, nice short throws, with very precise shifting, a little notchy though. Many people have installed the c6Z shifter and they like it a lot. You should probably perform a search, this topic has been gone over a lot. Good Luck!

I installed the C6 short throw in my '03 (before the C6Z came out) and I love it. Don't know if there is any difference between mine and the "Z" but it looks and feels great.

I installed the ripper from B&M and put on a delrin handle while I was at it. Love this set up. Easy to do also.

Installed a B&M ripper shifter. Works perfect! Just do a search
for how to install. Lots of good info here.

I run the Hurst. Short exact shifts and you won't miss gears.

I have the Hurst and like it a lot. But FYI, if you have not already heard, the Hurst has a tendency to rattle. Do a search "hurst rattle". Lots of info.

I got paranoid about the postings of noise and notchy-ness so I just cut an inch off of the OEM unit and buttoned her back up. I like the feel and shorter throws.

I shortened the oem shifter on my '04 Z16 by 3/4", then deleted the jamb nut that came with the HURST six speed ****. It isn't sloppy as others have complained and it looks better than the oem leather ****.
