I was going to wait 2-3 weeks for my refund check to be available but couldn't wait any longer. I'm planning on getting some new tires for my new rims either today or the next couple of days. Do I really need new "O" rings when the tire shop remove the sensors from the old rims to the new ones or can they use the same ones. Do I need to re-program them after they are re-installed. I don't have a any old speakers or speaker magnet at home, any other way to re-program them aside from going to the dealer? BTW, I'm going to Discount tire which is just down one block from my house.

Jaime, you won't need to reprogram assuming the sensors go back in the same position. New o-rings are cheap insurance. #9 o-rings work well and are readily available in most hardware and home improvemnet stores.

I'd go ahead and put new o-rings in - much easier to do now than end up with a leak later and have to break the tires down again.

Since you didn't mention what year your car is I checked your profile. If your inquiry pertains to the '03 coupe mentioned there, your TPS does NOT have the classic o-ring which was used on the "old style" sensors (your car has the new style TPS). Your sensor has a step molded rubber ring which I don't believe is separately available, and I'm not sure it could even be removed and replaced. You shouldn't need to replace it in any event. As a little insurance, I always put a thin film of die-electric (silicone) grease on the rubber ring before attaching it to the wheel.

Always a problem when you assume things....

Thank you. Next time to remember to put the year of my car, and yes it is for the 03. So I'm good then, don't need to stop by Home Depot tomorrow. Might have it done tomorrow or Thursday.
