1-Turn the ignition to RUN
2-Turn the radio off
3-Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC warning messages
4-Press the Option button on the DIC until the IPC display is blank in order to enter the program mode
5-Press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds
6-Press the option button until FOB Training message is displayed
7-Press the Reset button in order to begin the programming sequence.
8-Simultaneously press and hold the lock an unlock buttons on the first transmitter for 12 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this step for each transmitter.

Yea, not too many of us can remember that and other procedures. That's why I keep my Owner's Manual handy. All kinds of cool stuff can be found there. Can you remember where yours is?

Check the owners manual. The procedure is detailed in there - takes just a few minutes to do.

If that does not work or only works a few times then you may need a new fob.

I'm not sure if this changed from year to year, I had to do something slightly different on my 2000.

(same) 7-Press the Reset button in order to begin the programming sequence.
8-Simultaneously press and hold the lock an unlock buttons on the first transmitter for 12 seconds.
*Edit* I had to do this step a few times each in 12 sec intervals until the fob started locking / unlocking my doors.
*Edit* The IDC never said "Transmitting complete" or anything of the such, instead it just said "Exit FOB Training"

When I turned the key to off the Fob no longer worked, I pressed the lock/unlock button on the remote for 12 seconds while the key was removed from the ignition and then it started working again.

I dont have the owners manual, so I just got lucky trying different stuff. Hopefully it will remain working and I wont have to replace it.

You do need to do the first step to lock and unlock to move further.(Step 8) Doesn't always work first time, repeat and continue.:i agree: ^^^^^^

I have a 2000 in my shop that will NOT go into FOB training mode. Instead it goes to tire training mode only. I've tried a number of sequences & my Tech II indicates invalid fob when I press any of the fob buttons. Including the lock/unlock together. Anyone have any ideas?

The tire train mode should be AFTER the FOB mode by pressing options again, but this car just seems to bypass that?

Just an update. I swapped out the BCM for a diff. one (correct year) & it does do the correct things.... as in fob training & tire training are accessed by pressing options to switch between the two. I think its a bad or incorrect BCM.

FLASH,,,,I just replaced my fob battery,,,and in the manual,,on the next page,,there is a paragraph that states if you just replace the battery,,you can "Refresh"the memory by getting close to the car,,hold lock AND unlock button for about 15 seconds and if you hear a short horn beep,,it's good to go!! My fobs battery had been dead for a long time,,replaced the battery today,,,,and it worked just as described!!! I held both buttons,,got the beep,,and the fob is working fine,,,NO elaborate procedure!!! Give it a try!!!
