oh man. it's a big one too.
i walked out and there is a big scratch in the clear coat that is about 2" wide and 4" long and runs from 2" below the top edge of the headlight cover and up 2" on the hood. i just want to know how it was scratched there? it's in the middle of the cover so you would have to park a car close to the front bumper and open a door so the bottom edge of your door scratches the headlight. or maybe back a trailer ball coupler on a 4x4 into it.
AAARRGGGGHHHH!!! I feel your pain dude. On your way to the body shop, just remember, like the song says, the first cut is the deepest. My most recent vette purchase was a used C5 that had a few very minor road nicks. My wife actually took some comfort in knowing I would be more relaxed (so she thinks) when parking it than I was with the last one that I purchased new.
had mine about a week and a friend at work took the hitch ball of his ford lariet and gave me a new front bumper, hood and right headlight assebly. I was about 12 miles from where the car was parked at the time. He called the police and told the boss to call me. his insurance paid for everything and he felt so bad he bought me a case of beer. We are still freinds but I did find a new parking spot.
It's ok, now you can quit worrying and really enjoy the car! But on a more serious note don't worry about it too much. I remember getting a little upset when I saw the first scratch on my Z. Just get behind the wheel and you will forget about it. Just make sure when you get it fixed you carry it to a good place that will fix it like new!

I would guess a SUV parked too close. They then pushed the button for the back gate/door to open and as it swung upward it scraped your nose and hood. Too many remote opener openings (wow) and people are not at that end of the vehical to see what happens.
