whats up with the chevy dealer?????? c'mon guys i just had my trans serviced at dealer and they left 1 1/2 qts. low and caused trans to shift erratic, took back to dealer, told me no prob found, went on lunch hour to demonstrate problem, told me had misfire, 2 hrs later call me back and tech that originally told service advisor trans was full did not even check, shop foreman found trans 1 1/2 qts low now vehicle performs like it did before i took to dealer, i just think guys should try to have a little more pride in workmanship, i think from now on i am going to start doing my own maintenance.
vettenlady: i bought my 04 A4 last october. same complaints as yours. i thought i was getting a very good deal, car had 6300 miles and was owned by an air force major. i started a thread just like yours. two of these great forum guys gave the same advise as you got. i had taken the car everywhere i could think of for people to drive and they all said well, these cars just ride rough. i finally out of desperation crawled under the back end with a flashlight and there they were. yellow tabs sticking out of the boot of the shocks. pulled them the next day and car rides like a dream. i believe the previous owner got rid of the car because it rode so bad. his bad deal was my good deal thanks to this forum. these guys and gals are awesome. also, i who cant even put in a lightbulb, put new speakers in my 04 by reading the audio section of this forum. much better than the blows (bose) crap. sincerely, olderguy
This is just a sad thread - great for this particular owner, but like olderguy's cars previous owner - how many people have been totally soured on the C5 just because the incompetent delivery dealer not removing the shock shipping plugs?
The Magnetic ride suspension is such a great setup for the street, and an incompetent dealer delivery prep can totally ruin the owners experience.
Well, getting to the dealerships' service departments, other than going into them and screaming at em, the only other thing to do is to write letters.
I am good at writing letters. So....I will be doing so. I am going to write a letter to the place that couldnt find them last week, and..another letter to the dealership that didnt remove them in the first place four years ago. And I will be sure to mention the fact that the previous owners of my vette probably were very disenchanted with it because of them. Luckily, having had a previous vette, I knew something was wrong. I wonder if I had not found them myselves and ended up taking it into the original dealer, they would have found them????
From the day I bought my 03AE I extremely disappointed in the rough ride but thought it was due to the runflats. After reading this thread from vettenlady a few days ago, I began to wonder if I had the same problem. I was however resigned to that fact that I could wait until spring (If it ever comes) to check it out. However after her comment that she crawled under the vette to check it out, I decided if she can do it, so can I. You guessed it, the yellow straps of the stuffers are plainly in sight.
To think, if it wasn't for a very nice YOUNG lady and you folks on the forum, I would have driven the vette around for many years thinking that's the way the ride should be. I love this car now --- I can't imagine the feeling once I get the stuffers taken out.
BTW, the car was born 9/13/02. I bought it from the owner on 9/11/04 with only 78 miles on it.
