After I did the build I put aftermarket insurance of the amount I had into the car. Made the price jump considerable but better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
Most will cover the mods if you tell them about it and have proof it was done, however only at the present value (ie. not what you paid for it). Also it will increase your rates.
Your best bet is to go with a Ins company that will give you "agreed value".

How do they determine what the value of old mods are? Like headers that are a year old, are they worth half their value? Is there a Kelly blue book for Mods??
What "mod friendly" insurance companies do you guys have? Mine told me if I put any aftermarket parts on my car they would not insure me (American Family). I don't think I've ever had a car I didn't heavily modify, so I don't like hearing that.
