I just bought a programmer it should be here middle of the week. Is there any advice on how i should "tune" the car, do's dont's. I've never used on of these but ive heard that it helps with shift points and hp mpg. I just figured with the depth of knowledge on here itd be the best place to look. thanks guys

Read the directions close. On my predator it tells you several things not to do. One is before you put your key in - make sure your emergency brake is on - this will keep your daytime running light off which pulls juice from the battery. They also mention having a healthy battery, some cell phone may interrupt the install, do not have any accessories on and do not open the door while it is installing (drops the voltage when light comes on). I’m sure there is a few others don’ts - just read the directions and you will be fine.

Honestly, I would take the car to a local speed shop. Example, Speedsouth here in Birmingham Alabama, did the tuning on mine for about 250 dollars. The use of a laptop seemed to work better than the powerprogramer. I have not used one on my vette but I did have one for my camaro. The cost was about 375. I didn't not notice any difference. I changed the gears to 4:10, exhaust and wheels and induction. I still did not feel/notice a difference in the performance. Speedsouth however, hooked it up!!!! Deletion of the skip shift, O2 sensors, proper tuning, I just couldn't be any happier. In my opinion, I would save a hundred dollars and have the car properly tuned.

Just my 2 cents

Wow, how can you change the gears out to 4.10 and not feel a difference with or without a tune? Most say the 4.10s feel like a 50 hp boost.

I have an A4 with the 2.73 gears. How hard is it to change out? Either to the stock 3.15 or 4.10?

unfortunately that unit is seen as junk here. well, its good to turn the fans on sooner but thats about it.

you were prob better off getting a mail order tune for 100.00 from Charlie at RPM Motorsports.

I have one and played around with it a good bit before I got it set to what I wanted. DON'T mess with the rev. limiter, tire size changer, top speed adjustment, rear(gears) adjustment. just set it to 100% shift point change and 93 octain setting. With auto trans and 273 rear, you will notice a little difference but not a seat of the pants difference. It's ok, but not great. I got mine used so did not spend alot of money. It's worth $100-150, but not what it cost new...
