Has anyone had any problems with the quality of chrome reproductions? Such as cracking or peeling? I'm looking at buying some but I'm a little worried about the ones off the discount internet sites without warranties. Thanks
Yes, I had problems. Not with the appearance of the wheels or quality of the chrome. The problem was getting the tire sensors to seal to the inside of the rim withour leaking... "O" ring problems. I had to return two wheels and will probably have to return a third. The third has a very slow leak. The ones I went with are chrome C6 ZO6 wheels.
On the other hand, they look fantastic on my pewter C5 with 19's and 20's. Went with 12 inch wide in the rear and that is the max that will fit. Good luck...
I've had my c6z06 repro's on for about a month now, swaped out the sensors from the stock rims and have had no problems.
The seal problem is usually related more to old or worn o-rings than bad wheels, IMHO. The only real knock I hear on them is the weight difference, OEM's are lighter than the (usually foerign manufactured, oops, there's another knock) repro's....

i don't think i've ever read a thread about someone complaining about chrome finishes peeling or cracking...it doesn't appear to be a very common problem with modern wheels.

Iv seen a seller w/some ZO6 stile wheels whare the chrome was comeing off. Than you have the sellers w/OEM wheels that talk down the aftor markets most of the time.
I never had any trubble w/aftor marke wheels. The ones in the pic are 5years old I got them used and are reaL NICE.
The chrome repos on my 00 C5 have been on 6 yrs and are OK, however, I don't drive it in the Michigan winters. The chrome repos on my daily driver Mustang are peeling arount the bolt holes and valve stems. They are 3 yrs old and made in China. C5 were base wheel exchanges chromed in the US.
I have Chrome Z06 wheels from O.E. Concepts that came with my '03 when I bought it in Dec '05. A little over a year and 20M miles later, they look great!
