this started happening after battery got really low, It happens everytime I start car, can reset and it stays off until I turn car off and then turn key on again, anyway to stop this or do I need to take to dealer stealer.
dang i just read the thread link above, and now im a bit worried! the car im getting has had the "recall" done, but according to the info in the link, the wheel can STILL lock up?? and even if i install the CLB from corvettesofhouston.com... i can still have issues? i may have to put a wire jumper in place of a relay?? dear god, i hope the CLB kit comes with great instructions, and i hope it works! this really sucks
I just had a different problem happen related to the "Service Column Lock" message. My car would let me start it, but not let me drive car forward or backwards more than 5 feet before killing the ignition. I had to get the car towed on a flat bed to the dealership, they needed to call a second tow truck to get inside their 3 story building. What a PITA!
It tunred out to be a failed relay in the steering column. The GMPP "Value Guard" ext warranty would not cover it. They were going to charge me $450 bucks...But the serivce manager was cool and did some leg work and got it covered under a "Special Policy" from the Mfr. since I had just purchased my car at that dealership with low miles (7041) and that car had a history of problems with the column lock.
