Default Fluids.

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but i am trying to decide what, and how much fluids are necessary.

Transmisison fluid. Non synthetic for the sp, and i have read 3.6 quarts on a previous post. The dealership recommends 4.1 quarts. Why is this different? Does the owners manual say something different (mine did not come with one)?

Diff.
Dealership recommends 80W90 (1.5qt) with a small bottle of additive for the limited slip.
I have read another of these posts for 75W90 and just using the amsoil severe gear extreme pressure synthetic without any additive. (1.7qt)

Any insight will be appreciated. I want to change the fluids this weekend.
Thanks
Jason

Jason,
The C5 manual does take about 3.7 quarts. Your dealer sounds like they are trying sell you five quarts to fill to 4.1. I know you can't put over 4 quarts in the tranny... it will just pour right back out the fill hole.

The diff takes about 1.7 quarts of whatever you put in it. It also does require friction modifier. But, fluids such as the AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 come with the modifier already in it. I've been using this fluid for years now without ever needing to add extra modifier.
