OK, I just found out on my 2000 c5 after my existing ext. warranty runs out my car will be too old to purchase another one. My car now has 33,000 on it. I drive about 10,000 a year. I have about 2 years left on this warranty, after that i will have nothing. Would you hold onto the car or upgrade to something that can carry a warranty?? I am real **** with my car (no jokes) and take real good car of it. i figure i will have aprox. 55,000 on my car when this warranty runs out. Help me out please!
Is the Vette paid off? If so, I'd probably still keep it. Just have a "Oh Crap" fund set aside just in case something happens. If it isn't paid off, depending on the payment, I might get a newer Vette. That's just me though.

You'd get rid of it just because you don't have a warranty? Why on God's green earth does everyone fret over not having a warranty? I could understand it (not really) with some poor person who lives paycheck to paycheck. I would hope that anyone established enough to own a Vette would have a few dollars in the bank for emergencies.
Sorry, I don't mean to be too harsh. I just don't see everyone worrying about doomsday repair costs. Odds are that you'll be fine, otherwise GMPP would be out of business. They don't sell those policies for charity reasons.
Don't get me wrong, I love this car 2000 c5 vert blk/blk chrome z6 wheels 14% tinted all windows, 6spd, purrs like a kitten. I am the 2nd owner, i got it with 25,000 on it. It belonged to a little old man who barely drove it. I guess i am just a little uncertain about the reliabilty. I just would hate for the tranny to go out and have to shell out big bucks while still having to make my payment. I really baby this car, and hope all will be ok, but you just never know. NO! I WOULD NOT GET RID OF IT JUST BECAUSE OF NO WARRANTY! I just like to think ahead and always have a plan.
take the money you would spend on an extended waranty and put it aside.the company selling the waranty has to make a profit don't they?
if you baby your vette like you say, keep fluid levels in check do the scheduled that is required by a waranty andyou pocket the profit.
First off, given proper (much less "****") care the Corvette is very dependable and durable. It is designed to go to 200,000 miles and should come very close to that with scheduled and intelligent care.
Secondly, you can put back just a couple month's payment and have a "repair fund" that can take care of just about anything. I vote keep it, drive it and enjoy it.
