hey guys i am hoping to commit to buy a 97 with 107k on it, person is going to email me more pics and then i have to say yea or nay for 13,000 .whats everybody think any ?s i should ask him its a auto what rear would prob. be in it thanks in advance. just came over from the c4 side
thanks will ask those ?s ,hoping its a 3.15 also. will ask when i talk to him its a couple hundred miles away is there any problems that are 97 only or do they hold up fairly well
If it is clean just buy it before someone else does. Try to get a discount of $500 but if he doesn't budge just buy it. Test drive it and if it drives good you might not need to pay $250 for an inspection. Sometimes if you wait too long to setup the inspection someone else might buy it from under you and at the price of $13,000 there is a large people that will want to get into a c5 for that price.

I say take your time and use good judgement in buying anything that costs $13k. I know you're all revved up right now and emotion is high. This is the time to slow down and have at least one of your friends (hopefully a C5 knowledgeable one) with you to look the car over (a lift is recommended) and think of questions to ask, Maybe write them down 'cause you won't be able to remember anything while drooling all over the place once you see the car of your recent dreams. Next to a house a car is most peoples largest purchase. The search for a Vette can be a very fun experience but a learning experience also and time spent now can reward the buyer later. I've all ways bought anything used in this manner. I've "missed the boat" on occasions but thought that those instances happened "for a reason." Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the hunt.
13 k is a good price for the car with the mileage as long a the title is clean. As far as the rear end goes the automatics come with 2.73 or 3.15 gears. Most concider the 2.73 gears dogs and the 3.15 are faster. mercury mike has a web page that will give you all the info you will need about rear ends on the c5.
I just bought a 2000 coupe w/93k miles for 17.5. Had a few mods like slotted rotors and the nice looking red calips, and a blackwing. Just had it dyno'd today @ 324hp/333torque. =)
oil sensor is shot but other than that it drives like a new one!
