I have a really stupid question
For the guys that have taken their cars to tuners or had anything installed. If you purchase a kit or some kind of package and say it has a price of 5k installed and tuned is their tax on that or is that built into the price??

Jeesh! For $5K, I'd ask them to include the tax.

Generally, states don't tax on labor, but you might find some exceptions...

+ tax on parts depending on state.
Otherwise, you are asking the vendor to eat between 5-8% - or to jack their price by 5-8% to cover the tax charge.

$5000 * 6% = $300 (6% state tax as an average)
So the vendor should take a $300 loss? Or jack up the price to cover this?

The total amount would be for parts AND labor. Usually a good tuner would give a break on the WHOLE package. Trust me, those parts will be marked up for resale.

Yes to both.
