Default Key Fob will not stay programmed =(

I have followed the steps to relearn the key fob from the car's computer and it works for about 10 min then stops. But funny thing is i dont have to go through the whole re-program mess, if i just hold the lock/unlock buttons down for 12 seconds it will start working again.

Am I missing a step here? I really dont want to have to wait 12 seconds each time I want to use the key fob.

Holding it down for 12 sec. indicates that you have disconnected the battery on the car. No reprogramming needed just identifying the remote. I would check the battery in the remote & the car both. Check the owners manual for min requirements. If I disconnect the battery on the car, I have to hold the buttons of the remote for 10-12 sec to familiarize the remote.

If you put in a new fob battery and it still does the same thing, you need a NEW FOB. That is the only way to fix it, (unless there are broken parts or solder joints).
Fobs are: 97-99 only
2000 ONLY
2001-2004 only.
It seems like the 2000's are crappy. I had 2 go bad.
Get a new one, not a used one and you will be happy.

I have the same exact problem as DrWorm on my 97, but both my fobs act the same way. What are the odds that both are bad? My second one was never realy used, just sat in my tool box for 10 years.

Last year mine would not stay sync'd with the car and ended up getting a new fob. Has worked perfectly since.
