Does it squeal with the a/c on or off?? If its only when you kick the a/c on it could be the tens.(i dont remember if the the a/c comp. has a belt tens. or not), if not then the belt is loose allowing the belt to slip around the a/c pulley causing the squeal (when the comp. is engaged)
Just did this. Had a squeak with A/C on, repalce all the belts and tensioners. Still squeaked. Replaced the compressor, dryer and orifice tube. Plan on doing a water pump too since it has to come off to remove the compressor. I found the cheapest price in the country here:
They tell you that some cars, 2000 and older I think, require a replacement bolt for the conpressor installation. I didn't need it after all, but have it if your car needs it.
Is this something with the car... i had the same issues for about 2 weeks ...changed the belts and it's ok now but it seems a lot of people are having these problems
Purchased mine from the same place as Ron C great transaction and very responsive to inquiries. I would replace the tensioners first. I did both when I installed the new engine.
If it squeals with both the compressor on and off I doubt that it is the compressor. When the compressor is off the only thing rotating is the pulley. My guess is it is either the compressor pulley bearing which can be replaced or the belt.
