Default Need Advice Installing Some Bling

I've seen many pictures of C5's with a decorative exhaust plate and bought one last spring but never installed it on my '98 becuase of the mounting surface. The plastic mounting surface is has ridges which gave me concern that there is not adequate bonding suface for the sticky adhesive to maintain a permanet grip. Not only is it an irregular surface, it is not fully flat as you can see toward the top of the photo where an angle begins.

Are all C5's like this and did anyone do anything different other than press the mirror metal plate onto the plastic surface. My plate is from SS Inserts and has a 3M peel and stick back.

Appreciate anyones advice when I try and install it - when the weather warms up and snow is gone

After you clean it you could also use a little 3M spray glue. I taped off the lower areas so they didn't get glue on them and then installed the plate as the directions stated. I don't think it was necessary, but I too had my doubts. No probs so far...

They all look just like yours. Clean the surface really well, and once you stick that two sided tape down, it will hold very, very well. I've had my exhaust plate on for over 5 years and I think I would need a chisel to get it off.

no problems with them sticking on, the only thing I noticed with your plate is the C5 logo is upside down, all of the plates I've seen and including mine, has the wider part of the plate on top,

here are some pics to help explain what I mean

Bling,....ya,...thats cool. Im spending a LOT of money on bling but,....none of it makes it to my car. It ALL goes to my wifes fingers or ears and neck,.....then when I want to put something "scary looking" on my car she says, "oh,....thats nice"

Thanks everyone.

I'll give it a go in a couple of months when the weather gets into the 60's.

I guess they make the plates both ways.

Definitely wait for some warmer weather, clean it up, and you should be good to go.
