I'm going to change out my rotors tomorrow. I pulled off three of the old ones with a little help from a rubber mallet but the driver side rear won't budge. The ER brake is not on, is there anything else that would prevent it from just sliding off??
NO KIDDING . I used some rust penetrant. PB Blaster works better than WD40. Whack it all around fron the rear and also the front.
It WILL COME OFF BIGHANK
Zeke: the rear drivers side for some reason has a tendencey to stick. The brake dust tends to lock the brake shoes for the e-brake. gently tap the shoe for the e-brake all around on the back side of the rotor, then the rotor from the outside in and then from the inside out . This should brake it loose. If your still stuck call me you got the number.
My Tahoe has a similar style rear brake. If it has been a long time since the rotor has been off you may have dirt/corrosion build up between the inside edge of the E brake part of the rotor and the E brake shoes. If you are trying to pull the rotor over this crap good luck. The only way I got the Tahoe rotor off was to put the claws from a claw hammer into the rotor vents and then hit the claw hammer with a heavy sledge hammer. Worked my way around the rotor and in about 15 minutes it was off. Due to winter weather and road salt and sand here in the Northeast sledge hammers are a must have tool when doing brake jobs on most cars.
Thanks for all the feed back. The WD and the new blaster I picked up at the Vette Fest in Chicago Sunday did the job.
Called Mitch over at FLP this morning ordered the new Baer Eradispeeds and new pads. Hurry up UPS.
