The problem with this type of statistic is your comparing cars that are almost 8 yrs old to cars that are reletively new. Corvettes are hard cars evaluate because of the way thier owners use them. Some people may drive a 2000 1000miles a year, and the next person uses it as a daily driver and takes it to the track. True the car does have some problems with certain components, but as someone mentioned, alot of it is sub contracted units.
Hey, how about me? I have a garage queen that I drove 132 miles last year.
Driven my 2001 EVERY DAY for 6-1/2 years without being down once. Both headlight motors went out and could still crank them by hand until I got to the dealer and the battery started acting up, but all that happened was the HUD lost settings - again no big deal. Most trouble-free car I have ever owned. I also am supposed to be in the number-range of the 2001 oil-burners - never showed to be a drop low at any oil change?
I agree with the statement concerning Ford's drive by wire. I had an '04 F-150 with that setup, and I believe it did NOT work as well as the setup in my Corvette. I attributed it to new model teething pains. But I understand Corvette had it since 1997, Kudos GM, because, I agree, the system works perfect, which was not the case in the F-150. I didn't keep the vehicle because I moved to the country and didn't relish commuting 50 miles at 15 mpg, My '04 Mustang and Corvette are much better at that at 30 mpg.

I love Consumers Reports! I look at their ratings everytime I buy something, then I buy their lowest rated item!
Well almost like that, everytime I look at their trash I see that what I own is the worst or near the worst, yet I have had no problems with it.
CR rating are a true expamle of the old adage the unhappy complain the loudest while the happy and content say little or nothing.
I have never purchased a CR and never will. If it isnt on the Dr. office table I never read it.
I dont believe what they say about cars anyway, I avoid their stupidity..
I find that their test results and write ups are a joke for the most part when it comes to autos. They don't understand sport cars or what they are about which is obvious in their write ups.
