I decided to kick the boat out of the garage and start working on the garage to get it ready to do some serious corvette modding. Garage size is 28ft. wide x 32ft. deep with 10 ft. ceiling height and 2 10ft. wide garage doors. I am starting on the corner back wall installing Insulation and GarageWorks Gearwall Panels. I will mount a bunch of Tall Gearbox Cabinets and Shelving on this wall. The plan is to get everything off of the floor and on the wall or in cabinets. I will have a 2 post lift installed next weekend in this bay also. I will
update this thread as I work on things.
Will also have to get rid of the salt deposits and seal the block. Yuck!!
Everything that was against the wall on this bay is now blocking the other bay entirely.
Hopefully I will still have enough room after the 2 post lift install.

Talk about having a clean slate to work from ....great dimensions on the garage...should give you lots of options. Look forward to seeing the progress. A racedeck floor in there would look killer in there (and no, I'm not a Racedeck dealer )
Thanks, I built the garage in 2000 for my 20ft. Bassboat from the trailer coupling to the prop is 27ft. With it in the garage there is not much room at all in that bay. Making the garage extra deep has alot of advantages but most builders dont build them that way. When I had the Contractor build this garage I had alot of things that I had to rework after he got finished because I failed to specify what I thought was normal garage stuff. He installed just 4 lights, I changed that to 8. He also put the lights and 15 amp outlets on the same breaker. I changed that to 12 gauge wire with 20 amp outlets and breakers. Effectively rewiring everything that he just done. At that time I put 1 bays outlets on a separate breaker than the other, as well as the lights on 1 bay separate from the other. That way if you are working on the garage you can still have lights or outlets that work close at hand. Also when I ran the wiring I ran it down the studs instead of through them also ran it along the rafters in the ceiling on the backside so you cant see the wires from the doorway.
Yes I have leaned alot with this garage. the one thing that I cant change is the 10ft. ceiling height. I should have had them use 10 ft. studs on top of the 2 ft. tall block for a 12 ft. ceiling height. And also have them use ceiling hugging garage door rails.
I've got a project going on too JR, I need to pour the floor this spring. Going to do radiant heat in floor. 10.5 foot walls in front 15 in the back.
I lofted the front half for storage.
Thats a nice space you have there. I'm only 24X32, should have gone bigger!
heres shot from loft
Built it my self with a little help from my friends. Did use a crane to get the trusses up though.
That's a great sized shop to work with. I'm on my third shop design and every time I get one done, I discover the things I should've done to make it perfect. My current shop is 33 ft deep so I don't have to worry about lifting under the overhead door.
You can find two post lifts with the cable routed on the floor between the columns which will allow for shorter columns under your ceiling height. What you have is more than enough to lift your Vette (hood down) to a comfortable full working height. Lifting an SUV or higher profile vehicle will require care.

Got the 2 post lift installed today. I still need to permanantly install the electric wires and the air cylinders for the safety catches. I will probably not get to work on it for a while because I have to go to Texas from the 16th to the 30th. I will try to get a pic of the vette in the stall before I leave.
Some very nice looking garages in this thread. Can't wait to see them finished. Mine is 24' deep by 32' wide. It's a 2 car with the rest set up with the work bench and garden tractor. I wish it was at least another 3' deeper and another 2-4' taller ceiling. Oh well, too late now.
