Consumer Reports "Fastest Car"
Fastest cars 0-60:
Viper 4.2
ZO6 4.3
911 4.4
Lotus Elise 4.6
Corvette Coupe 5.0
Subaru WRX 5.2
Two vettes in the top 6 ain't bad. I think they have the ZO6 rated slower than it is!
Usually they will take the results and run it through their own "criteria" and no matter what the category the Toyotas and Hondas are at the top of their list. They were salivating when they both introduced larger trucks as it gave them more ways to pick them first. Not bad vehicles-just not always the exceptional unbreakable 500K mile, never need anything, haloed cars they always claim.
Just ask the the Toyota V6 owners from late 90's and early 2000's who have engines full of sludge

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Don't laugh, I'm sure the goverment will make them re-certify the tests after it is revealed that they ran the cars in reverse, and the camry's all had bad transmissions.......So they will replace the trans in the camry's, run them against the other cars, still in reverse, and BAM the fastest car is again ANYTHING from Japan.
I think a friend who had one said the headers came in a box in the trunk, from the factory, and the local Chevy dealer installed them.
Ran with the Mustang Boss 302. Both were de-tuned to make the insurance weasels and corporate types happy.
Both liked to run at the top of the tach. To get in the right mood to drive one, you started by slamming your fingers in the door.
Both were designed to be Trans Am series racers (Pontiac used the Trans Am name without permission, and had to give the owners - SCCA I think - a few bucks per car for all those years Now we get more power from a manageable engine, thanks to fuel injection and good engine management, but once in a while, you need to revisit the past.

The Elise is very light but 4.6 is pushing it
