Consumer Reports "Fastest Car"
Just got the new Consumer reports auto edition.
Fastest cars 0-60:
Viper 4.2
ZO6 4.3
911 4.4
Lotus Elise 4.6
Corvette Coupe 5.0
Subaru WRX 5.2
Two vettes in the top 6 ain't bad. I think they have the ZO6 rated slower than it is!

Not sure I agree with the times, I was certain that both the Z and VIPER were in the 3 second range. And the COUPE is in the 4s.

The Z06 should be faster than 4.3 and the coupe is surely faster than 5.0. Don't know who they had driving the car, but must not have done very well.

It's got all the safety and emmisions equiptment to sell in the US. That makes it a real car. While the styling is wild, it is still a sweet car. Why did they leave out the 911 Turbo? I'm pretty sure it would be quickest. (AWD)

GM showed for 2000 (I think) the a4 coupe was 5.0 and M6 was 4.6? So that could be the difference. I seen test were the c5 z06 was 3.8 to 4.2 depending on the weather and driver etc. most m6 c5 were 4.5 to 4.8 (according to old motor trends and car/driver mags.)

Obviously, Consumer Repots did not have enough money nor did they have enough privilege to drive the Bugatti Veyron which is currently the fastest production car to the tune of US $ 1.2 mil. At 247 mph 2.8 sec 0-60 unless they were only testing domestic cars, but where is the Ford GT then? Then again it is Consumer Reports

I just saw the "Motorweek" show on Speed TV the other day. They had their own test between the Z06, Viper and Shelby GT 350.
The Z06 definitely was fastest 0 to 60, 4.0, IIRC. I think the Viper was 4.2. The Shelby was 4.5 or so. None were in the 3s.
They also had drags. I think the Z06 also won that. I dont remember for sure.
They said that in their opinion, the Z06 was the best overall car.
I'm sure this will be on again. If you can catch it, it is a worthwhile watch.
